Porn contract basics, the release, the consent form and your limits sheet
A porn contract is not one mysterious document but a short set of papers, and once you know what each one is for, you can read them calmly, ask the right questions and sign only what matches what you agreed at the casting.
Adults only (18+). Applying is free. You never pay us.
The three papers you sign before a scene
Before any recording you sign three documents. Each has a different job, and none of them is signed in a hurry. You get time to read them, and you can ask us to explain any sentence. This page describes how these papers work with us in general terms. It is not legal advice, and you are always free to show the documents to a lawyer or someone you trust before signing.
- A model release.
- A consent form for the specific scene.
- A limits sheet with what you are open to and your hard no list.
The model release
The model release is the document that allows the producer to record you and to use the finished content. It names you by your legal name and your stage name, describes the production it relates to and states how the content may be used and distributed. It also records how you will be credited, which with us means your stage name only. Read it carefully, because this is the document that governs what happens to the content after the shoot.
- Who records you and for which production.
- How the finished content may be used.
- The stage name you are credited under.
- Your confirmation that you are 18 or older.
The consent form for each scene
The consent form is specific to one scene. It names the scene type (solo, girl-girl or boy-girl), the scene partner if there is one and confirms that you agree to take part voluntarily. Consent for one scene does not carry over to another. It also states your right to stop at any moment during the scene without a penalty, which is how we run every set. Our safety and consent page explains this in detail.
The limits sheet
The limits sheet is the most practical of the three. It lists what you are comfortable with and, just as important, what you never want to do. It is filled in with you at the casting, read back to you on the shoot day and shared with your scene partner and the director. If something is not on the sheet, it does not happen. You can change your limits before any shoot, and changes after a casting are confirmed again in writing. Our blog post on setting your limits before a shoot helps you prepare it.
Questions to ask before you sign
A fair porn contract reads clearly and matches what was said to you. Before signing, check that the scene type, the partner and the rate are what you agreed at the casting before you said yes to the scene. Check that your stage name is spelled the way you want. Check that your hard no list is complete. If anything is different, unclear or missing, say so. Nothing is filmed until the papers match the agreement.
- Does the scene type match the casting?
- Is the rate the one agreed before you said yes?
- Is the payment method and timing written down?
- Is your hard no list complete and correct?
- Is your legal name kept out of titles and credits?
A real contract never asks you to pay
No document you sign with us asks you for money. There is no registration fee, no portfolio fee, no testing fee paid to us, no deposit and no deduction for paperwork. We also never offer travel, visas or housing as part of a contract. If someone presents a "contract" that requires you to pay to be cast or to receive work, treat it as a warning sign. Our guide on adult film talent agencies explains other red flags to watch for.
How payment appears in the papers
The papers confirm the rate for the scene as agreed at the casting and how and when you are paid after the shoot. We do not publish amounts on this site because they depend on the scene type. You can read how payment works in practice on our page about how porn performers get paid.
Your ID and the records behind the contract
Alongside the papers, the producer checks your photo ID on the day and keeps the age and identity records the law requires. These records are kept private and are not used for anything else. Read more on our 2257 age verification page.
