Legit porn casting checklist to use before you apply anywhere

A legit porn casting never asks you for money, always checks that you are 18 or older with a government photo ID, tells you the rate before you agree to a scene, writes your limits down and lets you stop at any moment. If a casting call fails even one of those five checks, walk away. This checklist explains each check and what a real studio says when you ask.

The five checks every legit porn casting passes

You know a porn casting is legit when it passes five checks at once: it is free for you, it verifies your age and identity with a real document, it states the pay for the specific scene before you agree, it puts your limits in writing and it lets you stop filming at any time without a penalty. Any honest studio answers all five in writing before you meet. Anyone who goes vague on one of them is telling you something.

  • Free for the performer, at every stage.
  • Photo ID and age verification for every performer.
  • Rate for the scene stated before you agree.
  • Limits written down and respected.
  • You can stop at any moment.

Ten checks before you send anything

Use this table before you answer a casting call, and again before you go to a meeting. You can ask every question by message. A real production expects these questions from beginners and is not offended by them.

Check Legit casting Fake or risky casting
Money You never pay for anything Registration, portfolio, training or "booking" fee
Age check Government photo ID and a selfie for every performer No ID asked, or ID asked only after nude photos
Records Age and identity records kept privately, as 18 U.S.C. 2257 requires No idea what 2257 is
Pay Rate for the specific scene stated before you agree "We'll talk about money after"
Limits Written limits sheet, only agreed content is filmed "Limits are unprofessional"
Stopping You can stop at any moment, no penalty Penalties or threats if you stop
Casting A conversation first, nothing filmed without agreement A "test scene" at the first meeting
Photos No explicit photos asked before verification Nude photos requested by DM
Travel No travel, visa or apartment offers to lure you Free flights, a visa or housing abroad
Documents You keep your ID, copies stored privately Someone wants to hold your passport

Why money is check number one

Asking a beginner to pay is the single most common sign of a fake porn casting. Studios earn from the scenes they produce and distribute, and agencies earn a commission from bookings, so neither has a reason to charge you. A fee for "registration", "a portfolio shoot", "training", "background check" or "booking" means the fee is the business. Applying to us is free and stays free, and we say so on every page, including how our casting works.

Red flags in a porn casting call

Most fake casting calls arrive as a direct message, use a free email address, promise a big amount for "easy" work and push you to decide fast. They often ask for nude photos before anything else, sometimes with a story about a client who needs to see them. They avoid naming the production or the people involved. Some offer to fly you to another country. Any one of these is a reason to stop replying. Several together are a pattern you should not argue with.

  • Unsolicited DMs offering paid scenes.
  • Pressure to decide today.
  • Nude photos requested before any verification.
  • A vague or missing production name.
  • Travel, visa or housing offered as part of the deal.

What a real studio asks for instead

A real studio asks for one way to contact you, then for a valid photo ID and a selfie to confirm that you are an adult and that the ID is yours. At the meeting it asks about the scene types you are open to and your limits, and it tells you the rate for a specific scene. That is all. Our page on porn star requirements lists exactly what any legitimate production will ask you for, and nothing on it costs you money.

Questions to ask before you meet anyone

Send these questions by message before you agree to a meeting, and keep the replies. The answers you get are your best evidence about who you are dealing with.

  • How do you verify age and identity, and where are my documents stored?
  • What is the rate for this specific scene, and when and how am I paid?
  • Will my limits be written down, and can I stop at any moment?
  • What happens at the casting itself, and is anything filmed there?
  • What testing do you require for scenes with a partner?
  • Do I pay for anything at any stage?

What good answers sound like

Good answers are specific and the same every time you ask. "Photo ID and a selfie, stored privately for our records." "The rate is stated at the casting for the exact scene, before you agree, and you are paid after the shoot." "Yes, your limits sheet is signed before anything is filmed and you can stop at any time." "No, you never pay." Our safety and consent page shows the answers we give, and how porn performers get paid explains payment in full.

Studio or agency for a safer start

Both can be legitimate, and both can be faked. Applying directly to a studio is usually simpler for a beginner because you talk to the people who plan and record the scene, the rate is agreed with them and they pay you. A good agency can bring many bookings, but check the contract length and commission before you sign. Our blog compares the two in agency or studio for beginners. Some beginners realize along the way that they would rather not work with a production at all and want to sell adult content with subscriptions on their own terms instead. That is a different path with its own trade-offs, and it is a fine one.

If you have already sent photos or money

Stop replying, do not send more, and keep screenshots of every message. If money was sent, contact your bank or payment app right away. If someone threatens to share images, report it to the platform where they contacted you. Being targeted is not your fault, and a legit studio will not hold it against you.

How PornCouch passes the checklist

We are a studio that casts beginners, so here are our own answers in one place. Applying is free and we never ask for money at any stage. Every performer is verified with a government photo ID and a selfie. Your rate for a specific scene is stated at the casting before you agree to it, and you are paid after the shoot. Your limits are written down, and you can stop at any moment. We never offer travel, visas or housing. If you are a couple, the same rules apply to each partner on our porn casting for couples page, and the casting itself is described on porn auditions.
