Five questions that decide almost everything
If you remember nothing else, ask these. They cover identity, scope, consent, money and privacy, and each has a clear right answer.
- Who is the company, and can I see how you verify performers?
- Which scene exactly, with whom, and what happens in it?
- Where are my limits written, and what if I change my mind?
- What is the rate for this scene, and when and how am I paid?
- Where will the footage appear, and under what name?
Who are you, and who sees my documents
Ask for the studio name, who handles your ID and where it is stored. A real studio checks every performer's age, because federal record keeping applies to all of them, as explained on 2257 age verification. The answer should name a company, a process and a private place for the copy, not "send it to this chat". If the person cannot name who they work for, stop there. More checks are in how to tell a legit porn casting from a fake one.
Do you charge anything
The answer is no, always. Not for the casting, a portfolio, test shoots or a booking. You are the one being paid. Any fee, even a small one, means the offer is not a studio job.
What exactly will I film
Ask for the scene type, the setup, the partner if there is one and the length of the day. A good answer is specific: who is directing, how many crew, what is shown and what is not. A vague "we will see on the day" is a red flag. If you want the process step by step, what happens at a porn casting walks through it.
Can I do only solo or only one type of scene
Yes, if that is what you want. Many beginners start with solo porn casting or a set with one partner and move on later, or never do. A studio that pushes you toward more than you asked for is not listening.
Who is my partner and have they been tested
Ask who the partner is, whether they have verified ID and how testing works. Partner scenes follow the production's testing rules, which STI testing for adult performers explains. You should be told before the day, and you can ask to see the testing requirement in writing.
Where are my limits written down
They belong on a sheet you read and sign, line by line, before filming. You can change your mind before or during a scene without a penalty. If the answer is "we will talk on set", ask again. The guide to setting your limits before a shoot shows how to prepare one.
What happens if I say stop
The right answer is that filming stops and nobody argues. Ask who on set you tell, and whether there is someone other than the person filming. Our page on safety and consent describes our approach.
What is the rate, and when am I paid
Ask for the number for your specific scene, before you agree, in writing. Rates depend on the scene type and what is included, so a studio may not publish a list, but it must tell you your figure. Ask when you are paid and by what method. For a beginner the norm is payment after the shoot. The detail is in how porn performers get paid.
Can I read the contract first
Yes, before the day, with time to ask questions. A real contract covers the scene, the rate, where footage may appear and your right to a stage name. What to look for is in the porn contract. Never sign anything under time pressure.
Where will it appear and under what name
Ask which sites will carry the footage, whether it can be taken down and which name is used. Your legal name should not appear in titles or credits, and you choose a stage name. The porn star name generator and choosing a stage name help. No studio can promise that nobody you know will ever see a scene, and a studio that promises it is overselling.
Replies that tell you the casting is not real
| You ask | A bad answer | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Who is the company | "Does not matter" | No business behind the offer |
| Do you charge | "A small booking fee" | A scam |
| Where are my limits | "On set" | No limits sheet |
| What is the rate | "Depends, we will see" | No rate, no leverage for you |
| Can I read the contract | "Sign now, offer ends today" | Pressure |
| Can a friend know where I am | "No" | Control, not production |
It is normal to take your time
A studio that wants you for the long term lets you sleep on it. If the casting is on a call, you can say you will answer tomorrow. Our online porn casting page explains how a video call casting works, and what to bring to a porn casting covers the small practical side.
If you later sell content on your own page
Some performers keep a fan page next to studio work. When fans start writing every hour, tools like replying to every fan message automatically help you keep up. Ask the studio about this at the casting too, since your contract decides where studio scenes may be posted. Our page on casting for OnlyFans creators covers it.
