One document, one list and one question
Bring the ID, a short list of what you would and would not do, and one question you want answered. That is a complete first casting. The ID is needed because federal record keeping applies to every performer, and the studio cannot book you without it. The list becomes the start of your limits sheet. The question is yours, because a casting is also your chance to judge the studio.
- A valid government photo ID, not expired, with your date of birth.
- A phone for the confirmation code and your candidate panel.
- A rough idea of your limits, written or in your head.
- Your availability for the next few weeks.
- Nothing else is required.
Which ID counts and what happens to it
A passport, driver's license or state ID card works if it is valid and shows your date of birth. A student card, a screenshot or a photo of a photo does not. We check it against you in person or on a video call, and we ask for a selfie through your candidate panel so the two can be matched. The copy is stored privately because the law requires a record for every performer, which 2257 age verification explains in detail.
Your legal name does not appear in titles or credits. You choose a stage name, and if you have none yet, the porn star name generator and our notes on choosing a stage name help.
Never send your ID before you know who is asking
Do not email a scan of your ID to a stranger who will not name a studio. Check the company first, then use its application form. If you are unsure, how to tell a legit porn casting from a fake one lists the checks.
Your limits, before you walk in
Think about three groups: what you are happy to do, what you might do under certain conditions, and what is a firm no. You do not need perfect answers. The casting conversation turns them into a written limits sheet, and the guide to setting your limits before a shoot shows how to do it. People who arrive with even a rough list leave the casting with a sharper sheet than people who decide on the spot.
Practical things worth checking
Small things make a first meeting easier.
- Where the casting is and how you get there, or a quiet place and a stable connection for a video call.
- Whether you want a friend to know where you are. A real studio has no problem with that.
- Your calendar, so you can say which dates work without guessing.
- Your questions about pay, testing and who sees the footage.
You do not need a portfolio, a reel or a costume
First-timers worry about arriving without photos or a showreel. A studio that casts beginners does not expect them. The same goes for lingerie sets and props. If a scene needs wardrobe, it is agreed in advance and discussed at the casting. Come as you are, dressed in what you feel comfortable in.
Money is not on the list
You never bring cash, and nobody should ask you to transfer anything. A real casting does not charge for the casting itself, a portfolio, test shoots or a booking. You are the one being paid, after the shoot, at a rate stated for the specific scene before you agree. Our page on how porn performers get paid covers it.
Requests that mean the casting is not real
Some requests are a reason to leave, whatever the person says.
| If they ask for | What it means |
|---|---|
| A fee to be considered or booked | Not a studio, a scam |
| Explicit photos or video before any ID check | Collecting material, not casting |
| A fast decision with no written terms | Pressure, no limits sheet |
| Moving to a private chat app straight away | No company behind the offer |
| Your ID but no studio name | Identity risk |
| A refusal to let you bring a friend or tell someone | Control, not production |
A real studio explains the process, writes your limits down, states the rate and lets you say no. Read what happens at a porn casting to compare against the real sequence.
How the casting itself goes
It is a conversation of roughly the length of a job interview. We confirm your ID, ask what you want to do and what you do not, explain how a day on set runs, state the rate for the scene on offer and answer your questions. Nobody asks you to perform at the casting. You leave with nothing signed unless you want to sign, and you can take time to think. If you want the contract side, see the porn contract.
After the casting
If you want the other side of the table, the questions to ask at a porn casting cover what to ask them. If you decide to go ahead, a date is set, the limits sheet is finalized and testing is arranged where the scene needs it. The guide to STI testing for adult performers explains that step. If you decide not to, you tell us and that is the end of it. Some people also want to promote their own work afterwards, and for that promotion and chatting for your own fan page is a separate service that has nothing to do with the studio.
